Another Miss Bennet

This is a commission piece and I do think it looks a bit more like our Miss Bennet. What do you think?

The Transfiguration

Sell Art Online

First Oil Painting I've done depicting Christ. Whatcha think? It's not an subject to be taken lightly but I'm hoping that with the guidance of my Pastor and continued study of scripture that I will improve and proceed in this area.

Hello again

Wow, I can't believe it's been about a half year since I've posted anything on this blog. Well I've been painting some and I now have a new website where you can buy prints or available originals HERE! Please do check it out. I intend to offer more soon. In the mean time this painting is my latest larger project. It's a painting of the sanctuary at Messiah Lutheran Church in Kenosha, WI.

Schipperke Puppy

This is Pepper, my model and most favorite dog in the world! I actually painted two of these because after painting the first I knew my mom would never let me sell it. So this is the ebay version of Pepper.

Had a trying day at work and the great thing is that it's inspired me to get back to my favorite pastime.

This is Skandy. A painting I did as a gift.

Oh and....

I found some tiny little hangers that are suitable for the ACEO boards. I'll post a picture soon of what this looks like. They are inconspicuous but make it so you can hang an ACEO on the wall. I think it's cute and one that I used it on was already a big hit with the person whom now has the painting.

loose ends

I'm feeling a bit stressed today. I really don't like errands and loose ends, that are loose and beyond my control until another time. I've got 3 more tasks to complete after work before I can relax for the evening. Oh and first I've got to get through this day at work.

But the good news is my Christmas shopping is done! Next week is a 3 day week!!! YIPPEEEEEE!

This weekend: one more painting for a present. Then back to ebay. See you soon!

Busy busy! No time for ebay this week

I am painting but nothing is going on ebay right now. I'm working on several Christmas commissions...nothing like waiting til the last minute huh? I seem to do this to myself almost every year. I really don't like being absent from ebay but it can't be helped right now. I don't even have a tree or one single Christmas decoration up yet. Maybe...I can catch up this week.

It's Thanksgiving day! I'm about to head over to my mom's house for lots of good food! There are so many things I have to be grateful for. Last night I was among about 20 people from Great lakes Church who got together for a party and wrapped Christmas presents to ship to soldiers currently serving in the war. It was really such a great evening, with lots of cookies, coffee, hot cider, music, catchphrase and laughter. If you ever have a chance to be part of a service project like this, I hope you jump at the chance. I pray for everyone serving away from their family today.

One last thing. I'm earmarking the money I receive from the current and next few listings on ebay for special "Christmas offerings". So I'm hoping for great things!

Happy Thanksgiving all!!!

A Nez Perce

This is my first try with the mini-masonite board. I'm liking working on it. No different to paint on than the wooden panel, still rigid, but thinner.

Just checked out the ACEO oil painting category. My fellow artists are really stepping it up! I'm impressed.

ACEO's are so COOL! I hope they continue to gain in popularity.

Landscape on Ebay

Painting ACEO's - is a perfect winter focus. Why? Because I now get off of work at 4:30 as the sun is already setting and by the time I'm home it's dark. It seems no matter how many lights I turn on in my house it's never enough to paint a larger painting. I'm always struggling to have enough light on the canvas as well as on my palette. Battling shadows and struggling to mix colors. ACEO's don't present these problems. One good lamp (my Electix - made in the USA - arm lamp) perfectly fits the bill.

I just bought 50 ACEO sized masonite boards on ebay! This well be a new substrate for ACEO's for me. But I've used masonite before and do like it. These panels are thinner and I am hoping they'll fit into standard trading card pages, thus the purchase. I just think a rigid "card" seems more substantial and can be displayed in many ways whereas the canvas only "cards" are flimsy, risk fraying, warping or creasing. Of course they were cheaper to mail and there is no risk of them breaking in the mail like the wood panels I currently use. Oh well, I am pretty certain these Masonite boards will be a great alternative, serving enough purpose to satisfy me and collectors plus they are acid free and perfectly suited to paint.

ACEO's...what are they?

I just got done changing the color and such of this blog after looking at a couple friends' pages. I'm tempted to play around with a shiny new banner too, but I'd be sitting here all night playing with that. For now this will suffice.

So I'm working on new ACEO's. This post will not include a photo (yet) because geez, it's dark at about 4:30 'round here now and I can't seem to get proper photos without natural light. I'm excited though to get back on Ebay with ACEO's again. I miss that!

For those of you who don't know, ACEO stands for "Art Cards, Editions and Originals". It's an odd acronym but it's a popular collector item on Ebay. They are miniature works of art, the size of a baseball card. People collect work from all over the world from very skilled and reputable artists on ebay. It's really pretty neat. Wish I could see a collection some day.

What's happening

It's been so long since I've posted anything on here. Just to let you all know, I am still around and painting! This picture is a larger portrait I did recently. I am beginning a new round of ACEO's! So I expect to be back on Ebay soon. Everything is going well. I've been at my job now for a few months but I really do miss staying home to paint and being able to look out a window. But I must admit I'm grateful to have an income.

back to painting

On ebay again.

I promise I will be back....But this might be the last for awhile. I have to take a little break, possible job stuff.

Today I finally had finches visit my feeder. It's taken my yard 9 years to "grow up" enough so that birds have sufficient perches and sanctuaries. I've also placed a humming bird feeder up and I've got a family of robins hanging out, picking around in my yard all day this week. I've got admit it's really nice to be home all day to see all this life that goes on in my yard. Guess it gives me something to look forward to in my old age (retirement). Only about 25 years til then :)
